Cleaning Milk Spills on Your Carpet

Spills on the carpet are quite common and as a homeowner you should learn how to handle these kinds of problems. Keeping your carpet nice and clean is a continuous job but somebody has to do it in order for your carpet to be well maintained.

One of the common problems that happen is when your kids play around while they are drinking their milk. That is why it is not rare for a carpet owner to find that their children have spilled milk all over their beautiful carpet. The milk spill can be annoying because it can leave a nasty mark as well as make the carpet unhygienic. So what exactly should you do in this situation? Check out the post below to find out how you can clean up this very common mess.

1. First off, you would need to remove as much of the spilled milk on your carpet. You can do this by getting a sponge or a clean cloth and dab the spilled area with it. This will help absorb the milk on the carpet without spreading it to other areas of the carpet.

2. Next, you will need to deal with the milk stain on the carpet. You can do this by applying a cleaning solution that you can make out of household detergent and some water. Get a teaspoon of non-bleach laundry detergent and mix it with ¾ liters of water. Place this mixture into a spray bottle and then spray the affected area several times. Let the milk stain soak in the cleaning solution for a moment before proceeding to the next step.

3. Get a clean white cloth and start blotting the milk stain on the carpet. Continue blotting it and observe as the stain is slowly becoming lighter and lighter. Eventually you will be able to get rid of the milk stain completely. It may take you several attempts to get the results you need but just keep persevering and surely you'll have a spotless carpet again pretty soon.

4. Once you have removed the milk stain, it's time for you to rinse the area with water. This is to avoid leaving behind residue that can actually damage your carpet over time. After rinsing, get some clean rags and dry the carpet completely before using it again.

Milk stains can be very annoying but it certainly is something that you can deal with easily. Just follow the guide above and you'll surely have no trouble cleaning up this mess.
